Human Resources Assistant

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Assistant to join our Human Resources team.  This role will play a key part in ensuring smooth and efficient HR operations by supporting day-to-day processes.

This HR teammate provides administrative support to a range of HR functions, including employee engagement, recruitment, compliance, HR systems and technologies, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, employee events, feedback surveys and more to support a positive employee experience.
  • Process employee changes in the payroll/HRIS system (UKG), including job and rate changes, benefit enrollments, and other employment updates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Process new hire paperwork, including I-9s, W-4s, background checks, and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and related documentation.
  • Assist with the organization and delivery of new hire orientations.
  • Oversee the full administrative process for open enrollment, including coordinating with insurance brokers, managing timelines, and ensuring accurate completion of benefits-related tasks.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures. Partner with HR Generalist and HR Director for further support.
  •  Maintain and update the employee handbook and current policies as needed.
  • Support use of UKG human capital management software, guiding associate and manager questions on functions.
  • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of employee records and files.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR and leadership team as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in office administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions.

Head Lifeguard (full-time)

Job Title: Head Lifeguard
Reports to: Aquatics Director

Job Overview:
As the only public swimming facility in Routt County, Old Town Hot Springs (OTHS) is dedicated to providing aquatic health, wellness, and education opportunities to our members, guests, and the broader community. The Head Lifeguard supports the Aquatics director in daily operations and team engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced lifeguards to begin their leadership journey. This role is expected to lead by example, demonstrating strong safety awareness, professionalism, and accountability at all times.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management :
• Assist in managing staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, including coordinating shift swaps and helping cover callouts as needed.
• Observing, evaluating, and coaching the lifeguard staff to maintain high performance standards.
• Ensure consistent and fair enforcement of all pool safety rules and policies.
• Assist lifeguards with member and/or guest interactions including enforcing safety rules and code of conduct.
• Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and strong safety practices.
• Maintain records of staff training, certifications, and incident documentation.

Program oversight & Development
• Schedule and conduct Red Cross Lifeguard certification classes as needed throughout the year.
• Plan, schedule, and conduct monthly in-service training for the lifeguard team.
• Schedule and conduct public ARC First Aid/CPR/AED classes including submitting course record entries and managing class communication.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Communicate regularly with the Aquatics Director regarding staffing needs, safety concerns, incidents, and overall pool operations.

Required Skills/Experience/Certifications:
• Minimum one year (season) experience as a lifeguard.
• Current ARC Lifeguarding Certification. (or ability to renew previous certification within 30 days of hire)
• Current ARC Lifeguarding Instructor r.24 Certification (or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience in working with seasonal employees and ability to build morale through teamwork.
• Able to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.
• Experience/familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other industry related apps.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be a strong swimmer, physically able to rescue & remove a drowning or injured person from the water, meeting or exceeding the Red Cross Lifeguard certification standards.
• Must be willing to work outdoors for prolonged periods, in varied weather conditions.

Lifeguard
Job Summary:
The Lifeguard will ensure swimmers’ safety in the pool area and administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Ensures that the rules and regulations of the swimming pool are followed to maintain a safe swimming environment.
· Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses automated external defibrillator (AED) when needed.
· Contacts emergency medical personnel when a serious injury occurs.
· Performs occasional pool cleaning and maintenance tasks such as emptying trash cans.

Job Title: Swim Instructor

Position Overview: The Swim Instructor, following American Red Cross guidelines, provides individual and/or group lesson instruction to students 6 months old – adults.

Job Title: Part-Time Assistant Swim Coach

Position Overview: The Part-Time Swim Coach supports the safe, inclusive, and progressive development of swimmers in accordance with USA Swimming guidelines. This role is responsible for leading practices, developing athletes’ technical skills, promoting team spirit, and maintaining a positive and motivating environment for all participants. This is a year-round, part-time position starting in December. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and organize structured swim practices for age-group and/or competitive swimmers.
  • Ensure swimmer safety and uphold all USA Swimming and facility safety protocols.
  • Teach and reinforce proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategies.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on respect, sportsmanship, and individual improvement.
  • Communicate regularly with swimmers and parents regarding goals, progress, and meet information in a respectful, hospitable, and professional manner.
  • Provide real-time feedback and correction during practices and competitions.
  • Support meet preparation and attend scheduled swim meets when required.
  • Set up and clean up equipment for practices.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Enforce facility and pool rules to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to all emergencies; know and follow all emergency procedures.
  • Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and maintain ongoing certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Aquatics Director.

Qualifications:
Required Certifications (must be current or completed before start date):

Job Title: Maintenance Technician 1

Position Overview: Maintenance Technician 1 plays an important role in ensuring that our members and guests have an exceptional experience. This entry-level position is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and repair of all facility areas while upholding a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. All tasks will be performed in alignment with the mission and goals of Old Town Hot Springs. Training and support for this position will be provided by the Facility Manager, with additional technical and functional guidance from Maintenance Technician 2.

Key Responsibilities:

Pools & Wastewater

• Maintain pool mechanical systems to ensure proper function
• Handle and apply pool chemicals safely, maintaining compliance with regulations
• Monitor and adjust water chemistry; maintain accurate pool logs
• Inspect and repair water slides and pool-related equipment, including in-water work as needed
• Operate pool vacuums and maintain cleanliness of pools, decks, and surrounding areas
• Assist with wastewater management

Grounds

• Landscaping
• Snow removal both manual and using a snow blower

The Old Town Market at Old Town Hot Springs offers members and guests a fast, healthy dining option. We are seeking a Market Attendant to prepare and serve specialty smoothies, coffee, beverages, and select food items to members and guests.

  • Prepares and serves a variety of smoothies, protein shakes and coffee to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested.
