There’s nothing like summer at Old Town Hot Springs! From energizing mornings to golden evening soaks, use this comprehensive insider guide as a starting point to make the most of your visit.
Before You Dive In
Getting Here: Conveniently located in downtown Steamboat Springs, Old Town Hot Springs is easy to reach no matter how you’re traveling. We offer free parking in three lots around the facility, plus ample bike storage for those arriving on two wheels. The City of Steamboat Springs free bus also runs daily with stops just steps from our front door.
When you arrive, stop by our friendly front desk to grab your day pass or check in, no reservations needed! Your admission includes all-day access, so you can come and go freely with a quick re-entry receipt. Guest locker rooms include free lockers, showers, and changing areas.
When to Visit: Holidays, weekends and afternoons tend to be busier than other times of day so be sure to plan your visit around the experience you’re seeking and check our hours of operations page for full facility availability.
What to Bring: We recommend a towel, sunscreen, and a water bottle for every visit. If you don’t have a towel, we have $5 towel rentals available. A water bottle filling station is located just outside the guest locker rooms. Forgot something? No problem! Our retail shop has you covered with swimsuits for all ages, goggles, sunscreen, OTHS specialty merchandise and more.
Summer Mornings
Summer mornings at Old Town Hot Springs are the best of both worlds: calm, quiet soaks outside, and a lively fitness center inside with classes and cardio to kickstart your day.
6 – 7 am: Spin in the Spin Room is offered Monday through Friday for early birds who want to start the day with an energizing workout. Visiting guests can register for fitness classes through the Guest Portal or by calling our front desk at 970-879-1828. Classes fill quickly, so advance sign-up is recommended.
7 – 8 am: Yoga is offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings if a refreshing, slower start to the day is desired.
Families can take advantage of our Childcare Center during fitness classes! Guests and members can pay for up to 2 hours of childcare per day for children ages 2 months to 10 years.
8 – 10:30 am: For a quieter pool experience, mornings are a great time to enjoy the hot pools or swim laps. Make sure to check the pool schedules before arriving to ensure the best experience.
10:30 – 11:30 am: For our late risers or for those wanting a unique fitness experience, SUP Yoga is offered in the Lap Pool. No experience required, we provide everything for the class. Pre-registration is required for this popular class.
11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Refuel at the Old Town Market, conveniently located in our lobby, with refreshing smoothies, specialty summer drinks, and variety of snack options. Outside food and drink are welcome, just no glass or alcohol please. If you’re in the mood to explore, some close local favorites are Saffron Indian Restaurant, Mai Thai, and Vista Hermosa Grill.
Summer Afternoons
Afternoons are yours to spend however you like, from high-energy fun to total relaxation! Summer afternoons can also bring an occasional lightning storm, so be sure to check the weather before your visit to ensure our pools will be open.
12 – 5 pm: Our two, 230 ft long water slides open at 12 pm daily in the summer months. You can add water slide daily access for $7 and receive a wristband. Be sure to ask the lifeguard which slide is faster before taking the plunge.
1 – 4 pm: Take a dip in our well-known 18+ heart spring for ultimate relaxation. For those feeling a little more adventurous, try one of our newer additions, The Icebox. This adults-only cold tub stays around 55 degrees year-round. Kids can enjoy the floating obstacles in our community pool, or if they are younger, our splash pool is a fun option for both kids and parents.
3 pm: Have a late afternoon massage indoors with one of our amazing masseuses. Sit in the waiting area and relax with our essential oil diffuser. If you came with children, this would be a great time for kids to use the climbing wall. They can climb independently (age 10+).
4 pm: Hop back into the pools after a rinse-off and check out our baby hot pool and community pool.
Summer Evenings
As the day shifts into evening, summer nights bring a mix of adventure and relaxation. Catch sunset views from the pools, take on the climbing wall, or head downtown to explore nearby restaurants and end the day on a high note.
5 pm: For more ways to experience all that our facility has to offer, try our climbing wall. We have auto-belay climbing and top rope climbing. Closed-toed shoes and socks are required. We also have free climbing shoes available for use. The climbing wall is open daily with weekday hours 10 am – 6 pm and weekend hours 9 am – 8 pm.
6 pm: Enjoy dinner a few blocks away at Table 79 or Mambo Italiano, or head into the heart of downtown to Salt & Lime for rooftop dining or inside at Old Town Pub to view the 107-year-old landmark building.
8 pm: Wind down with sunset views from one of our natural hot spring pools. For the best vantage point, head to the upper decks and watch the sun dip behind Emerald Mountain as the sky turns soft shades of pink, orange, and lavender.
